Premier League

The „Premier League“ is the top tier of professional football (soccer) in England. It is the highest level of the English football league system and is governed by the Football Association (FA). Established in 1992, the Premier League consists of 20 clubs that compete against each other, with the season typically running from August to May. Each club plays 38 matches, facing each opponent twice, once at home and once away.

The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL) Championship. The teams that finish at the bottom of the Premier League standings are relegated to the Championship, while the top teams from the Championship are promoted. The Premier League is widely regarded as one of the most competitive and popular football leagues in the world, attracting significant television viewership and international interest. It features some of the most successful football clubs, players, and managers, contributing to its reputation as a premier professional sports competition.
