Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s goal, primarily using any part of the body except the hands and arms; goalkeepers are the exception, as they can use their hands within their penalty area. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is known by different names in various regions; for instance, in the United States and Canada, it is often referred to as soccer to distinguish it from American football. It is one of the most popular sports globally, played at both amateur and professional levels, with major international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill and has a significant cultural impact in many countries.
